Volunteer Spotlight!
It has been said that some people make the world a better place just by being in it. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Catholic Christian, and volunteer, Janet Gardner is one of those people.
Janet has been volunteering as a Client Advocate at Community Pregnancy Center every week for well over 15 years. Her commitment to the ministry is unquestionable. At the Center, she peer counsels clients with love and compassion, she stays late to assist clients in need, and she has even taken extra time to offer the Board her help in the strategic planning process. In addition, Janet prays outside of abortion clinics regularly and volunteers at church and in a prison ministry, among other endeavors. Throughout it all, her candle is lit and shining, as she shares laughter and fellowship with whomever she is with.
At CPC, Janet has learned not to judge people, though she admits it's easy to fall back into. She says, "People are always going to take advantage of you. [But with] true charity, that's not what you worry about." Janet believes CPC most positively impacts the community by showing what true charity is.
